Robotswim optical beacons

The localization / communication system of Jessiko

Due to specific communication/localization requirements in aquatic environment (no Radio/ultrasound reflection), Robotswim has used optical communication means since the beginning of development (2005).

These systems are similar to recently marketed LiFi (Light Fidelity).

Our architecture presented on the right is based on a patented localization/communication protocol running at 120kbits/s.

For this purpose Robotswim has developed many models of waterproof beacons using common white Leds to send signals.

Robotswim can offer this technology to meet your specific needs.

Underwater optical video transmission

Optical video transmission with low latency

As part of its new projects, Robotswim developed an optical video transmission system allowing real time remote control of an underwater vehicle.

The architecture of our system is based on an optical/wifi relay allowing the access to the video from any WiFi terminal.

Current system performances are the following:
  • Raw bit-rate: 1 Mbits/s
  • Image size: 640x480
  • Frame rate: 25 f/s
  • Maximum latency: 300 ms
